"Why must a baby girl be in pink, baby boy in blue?"
This happened when I saw my colleague, Joyce's baby photo. It's a girl! The baby looks so adorable. Fluffy hair, plump cheeks, cute little hands ... and she smiles at the camera too :)
Just one thing... she was in a blue pyjamas.
So, I asked my teammate... "Joe, why is the baby girl in blue?"
Joe stared at me for a moment as if he was processing meanings to be added into symbols (OK bla bla bla...I taught too much about Communication at lecture today).
"What is the problem?" he said.
"Aren't baby girls supposed to be in pink clothing? Especially her pyjamas!" I exclaimed.
"Now, you're being bias," he said. "By the way, you're in blue today!" He continued.
"Oh, you're in blue too! And you're a man!" I replied.
..... not wanting to let go, I continued "But she's a baby! I would want my baby to be in pink pyjamas" I said, with a sparkle in my eye.
After that, I admitted that "OK, I'm bias. But I still want pink on my baby girl".
Hey, don't you want pink on your baby girl? Because she'll look sweet in pink pyjamas. And white dresses with laces that makes her look so sweet and graceful.
The more I thought about this question all by myself, I was thinking why can't it be purple, yellow or red. Why pink?!
Then, I came up with a very good verdict.
1) Purple is a colour for gays (as mentioned to me by a friend)
2) Yellow is a very bright colour, might spoil my baby's eyes (lame excuse)
3) Red would reflect that she can't wait for her 1st Chinese New Year. What more, we don't really wear red after that.
Whatever it is, white and pink gives the best to show the girlish side of a little girl. Making you feel you just want to spoil her to the max. And when she smiles at you, your heart just melts like ice-cream on a pancake.
I still think I am not really bias. Maybe a bit. But this is just my preferred colour.
Cannot meh?!
Maybe all of you should not put pink on your babies... so in future, my baby girl would be the nicest. *roll eyes*
Hahahahahahahahaha
You should be rolling your eyes by now too!
Do tell me what you think by leaving a comment after clicking the "Love" word after this article. Would your baby girl be in black or grey, pink or yellow?
