Malam Seribu Mimpi (Night of A Thousand Dreams)

My students did a great job at the prom night@charity event finale in support of Children Wish Society (CWS) on Thursday night [1st July 2010].

Of course, it was under the guidance of a person with many leaderships (and also my colleague) - Hardip Singh.

Sitting at the table, seeing my students delivering speeches, doing the MC, various performances ... my eyes went a little teary.

Forget about the amateurish and hiccups on stage, they all really delivered their best!

I witnessed how much effort they have put in (probably more than the effort they put in for an entire year of their Diploma) for the event.

The night, everyone was dressed in glitz and glamour! I was so happy Mr. D could be there to share my pride. He wade through bad traffic (was raining heavily!) and dressed up for the event. Thank you for being there with me, Darling.

That night, named Malam Seribu Mimpi (Night of a Thousand Dreams), we helped grant wishes of many children in Malaysia. It was so heart-wrenching to see little children in pain; some, only have few months left.

KDU donated a grand total of RM10,000 to the Children Wish Society that night. The donation will contribute towards granting wishes of children who aren't as privilege in terms of health. Some wish to own a PSP, some just wants to touch an Orang Utan, or go Snorkeling. The donation, would fund in realizing these dreams.

I was just happy and honoured to be able to be part of this charity event. I only wish all companies and especially Universities/Colleges would make this an annual event, when students organize events for charitable purposes.

Of course, to organize an event, you need a start-up fund to support the idea. The rest of the sponsors will come in rolling after that (not exactly roll lah ... need some convincing as well).

More importantly, I am very proud of my students for organizing this community service event. It is very important to acknowledge something meaningful in every event, especially when it should start from young.

A big CONGRATULATIONS to the Public Relations Students of March 2010 Semester!

XOXO,
